Surgical Technologist
A Surgical Technologist assists surgical team during operation/procedure by arranging, inventorying and maintaining sterile set up for operation, and passes items as needed. Assists in preparation of surgical suite, moving patients, and in cleaning. Provides aid in exposure, homeostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
Education Requirements
- Completion of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology OR
- Completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technologists in the armed forces, CAAHEP accredited hospital, or CAAHEP accredited ambulatory surgical treatment cancer program
Certification, Registration, and/or License Requirements
- National Certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a surgical technologist
