Registered Nurse

Registered nurses coordinate and provide patient care including performing initial patient assessments, collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team, performing wound care, administering medication, creating and coordinating care plans, and providing education to patients and families about their diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes. They supervise LPNs, PCAs, PCTs, and CMAs. Some RNs work in case management, supervisory, or administrative roles.

Educational Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Certificate OR
  • Associate Degree in Nursing OR
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Licensure, Certification, Registration Requirements

  • National Licensure Examination – RN
  • State license (as applicable)
