A medical technologist, also called a clinical laboratory scientist, is a professional who works in labs performing a wide variety of tests. They analyze various biological samples to treat or diagnose different diseases.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology or related field such as biology, microbiology, or biochemistry.

Licensure, Certification, Registration Requirements

  • Certification by American Medical Technologists (AMT) OR
  • Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • State License (as applicable)
