Organizes and participates in daily delivery of assigned area of services by coordinating personnel and activities in order to accomplish timely and accurate performance of sterilization, assembling of instruments, and case carts for procedures to surgery patients. Performs other duties as assigned.

Provides strategic leadership, direction, support, accountability, and management of the OR Sterile Processing Department (OR SPD) including decontamination processes and sterile processing in compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Reviews and evaluates department performance reports, usage reports and other fiscal documents for adherence to hospital goals and directives. Also responsible for quality and functional excellence and assists the Perioperative leadership in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives.

Three (3) years of experience in an operating room.

Completion of formal Sterile Processing Technician course or successfully challenged Course test preferred. Associates degree.

Assures efficient and effective general management of Surgery’s Central Sterile services by appropriate resource utilization, using appropriate assessment techniques, taking corrective action, and providing essential education and training personnel; assures effective operations management using total quality management and process improvements; assures effective financial management by adhering to budgetary goals/plans and purchasing policies. Organizes and participates in daily delivery of assigned area of services by coordinating personnel and activities in order to accomplish timely and accurate performance of sterilization, assembling of instruments, and case carts for procedures to surgery patients. Responsible for the management of central sterile personnel in assigned areas. This position is under the direct supervision of the peri-operative services manager, assistant director, or director. Performs other duties as assigned. If a graduate of a surgical technology program, assist in providing intraoperative care and assist in performing procedures for the surgical patient.

Successful completion of a surgical technologist program, a central sterile processing program, or 5 years SPD or CST experience.
